Solar and Green Building Tour 2010

ChuckLohreArchives, Green Energy Ohio Tour

Oct. 2-3, National Green Building Tour – Cincinnati shows off all the LEED Projects it has created!
This month’s home page is dedicated to the Green Energy Ohio Green Building & Solar Tour, the world’s largest grassroots energy efficiency event. This event offers you the opportunity to tour innovative green homes and buildings to see how you can use solar energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainable technologies to reduce monthly utility bills and help tackle climate change. More than 160,000 participants will visit some 5,500 buildings in 3,200 communities across the U.S.  Here in Ohio, over 200 sites will participate on Saturday, October 2nd & Sunday, October 3rd.  Cincinnati is home to over 30 of these sites, so there are lots of options for you to get out and learn more about alternative energy and energy efficiency from those who have adopted these technologies.

We need volunteers for several sites from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday Oct. 2. Please let us know if you can volunteer and promote Cincinnati!

Volunteers will just need to be there from 10 to 1 and pass out information to the visitors. We appreciate your help.

If you can’t volunteer come visit Green Cincinnati’s offices attempting LEED Platinum, Energy Star City Home Project Level 5 homes 1406 to 1437 Pleasant Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202 and the LEED residences at 1421 Race Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202 just starting the documentation stages. Plan your tour here. Come see Green Cincinnati’s planned renewable energy credit pellet stove, rain barrel, zero potable water landscape, dual flush toilet modification and gray water hand washing basin, occupancy/daylight switches and LED/CFL lighting. Bit by bit we’re getting closer to submitting our documentation. Nearly every LEED building in the City of Cincinnati is on the tour thanks to the efforts of Green Cincinnati Education Advocacy and Jack Clock with Green Energy Ohio.
