Red Bike Awarded Living Lab Grant

Exciting news in the Cincinnati micro-mobility scene — Cincinnati Red Bike was recently awarded a prestigious Living Lab Grant from the Better Bike Share Partnership (BBSP). The mission of the BBSP is to identify barriers to bikeshare and find solutions to make bikeshare more accessible. Each of the five cities designated as Living Labs (Cincinnati, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Portland) will be test sites for some of these solutions, with the goal of identifying best practices that can be replicated nationwide.

For Red Bike, winning this $200,000 grant is a chance to expand its bikeshare equity program, Red Bike Go. The Red Bike Go Pass is a discounted $5 monthly bikeshare pass for income-eligible riders. Red Bike will work with community members, organizations, and artists to expand the program into Lower Price Hill, Walnut Hills, and further within the West End. Additionally, Red Bike will work with teens and community partners to develop youth bikeshare programs in these neighborhoods.

Red Bike is a partner of EV Cincy and employs a number of electric bikes (e-bikes). As an EV Cincy Ambassador I look forward to seeing the innovative solutions they come up with to advance equitable and clean transportation in Cincinnati!
