Greening The Heartland, City of Cincinnati LEED Presentation in Chicago
Monday, September 9th 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Session Code: GM12, Learn more and register.
Since 2006, Cincinnati’s LEED tax abatement program has resulted in the rehabilitation or construction of 164 LEED-certified buildings, including three Platinum, 23 Gold, and 77 Silver certifications. Last December, the City Council passed an ordinance that retains the 15-year property tax abatement for homes, but also enacts a tiered system designed to encourage higher levels of LEED certification. Panelists will delineate the new system, under which those developing residential and commercial projects to LEED standards will receive larger tax incentives, making Cincinnati’s program one of the most aggressive in the nation. Commercial projects will receive a 12-year, 100% property tax abatement for LEED Silver, Gold, or Platinum certifications.
Presenters: Chuck Lohre, Green Cincinnati Education Advocacy; Michael Cervey, Laura Quinlivan, City of Cincinnati, City Council
