Process Mapping

The Program

Non-profit organizations require profitability to grow and successfully accomplish the organization’s mission. ln addition to necessary financial growth through external efforts, such as donation grants, fundraisers, events and the like, there is another important internal factor, often overlooked, to improve the bottom line: Elimination of non-value added processes or, non-value added steps within a process.

lnternal operational processes that are outdated, costly and inefficient cause unnecessary expenses to the bottom line. Non-value added processes often exist because “that’s the way we’ve always done it” and long-term assumptions haven’t been reviewed or challenged. All processes may not need changed; however, identification, elimination or reduction of non-value added activities or processes impact the bottom line. Cost reduction through elimination of inefficient processes also results in quality improvement, improved customer service, positive cultural change and higher employee morale.
