Publicity and sponsorship request for Grand Rapids ArtPrize Contestant –
The Infernal Device Needs A Place To Be Born

The Infernal Device, http://infernaldevice.net/Artprize/, is a large-scale, mechanically animated sculpture conceived by steampunk/retrofuturist artist Myke Amend, enginartist Steve Brook and steam modeler Todd Cahill as a collaborative entry for Artprize, http://www.artprize.org/, (the country’s largest open-entry art competition, held in Grand Rapids, MI). Our intent is to build a dynamic sculpture using 90-percent vintage, re-purposed materials that will be powered entirely by alternative energy sources (wind, solar, steam). The final work will be a stunning combination of moving 3-D sculpture and 2-dimensional painting with many articulating features working together as a single cohesive work.

YOU CAN HELP – We need a space to work in from May through late September (or any part of that time period). We’d love a space with ground-level access, or at least a freight elevator. Large doors are a definite need as well. Our preferred space would be a large garage near downtown. If you have a large industrial garage, hangar, art studio or other space that could accommodate the weight and size of a rather large mechanical work of art, and willing to donate use of that space from late April through late September, we would *love* to hear from you.

Steampunk Fabricators sponsors that support The Infernal Device with a $1000 donation will receive a custom Steampunk Fabricators sculpture, a $2500 sponsor will receive a custom one-of-a-kind Steampunk Fabricators guitar.
