Off to Greenbuild 2018 to cover the event for Green Cincinnati Education Advocacy. We have several experiments to work on this week.
ARC for the CAC
Greening the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati will include implementing the ARC program for the building. We did it at our office in 2017, “Is LEED Dynamic Plaque Good for Green Building Marketing?” We were a beta tester for the USGBC. Now the program is free. We’ve been wanting to implement the program for another project and this is perfect. The building supervisor is very excited about the program and will be getting us the energy, water and waste records this week. We’ll use the Foobot to record the Volatile Organic Compounds, CO2 and Particulate Matter in the atmosphere.
The Contemporary Arts Center is a contemporary art museum in Cincinnati, Ohio and one of the first contemporary art institutions in the United States. The CAC is a non-collecting museum that focuses on new developments in painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, performance art and new media.
Green Internet Marketing
Another project will be focusing on is internet promotion using this WordPress site and blogging regularly about the conference as well as sharing the posts on our Facebook and Twitter accounts. Well written, meaning writen for Google’s algorithms, content and sharing is the best way to increase traffic to your site through Google’s searches. Topics we’ll focus on:
This chart shows a 22% growth in traffic of one of our sites in the past month. First you have to get over the 1500 visitors per month threshold but if you continue to add content and blog regularly with good content, your traffic will grow. We’ve double our traffic over the last few years.
Meet Likeminded Individuals at Greenbuild
Very few people care about the environment. From our promotions of the LEED tax abatement in Cincinnati, almost no one does it because it the best or right way to do things. They mostly care about the cost and saving on their taxes. In 2007 in Cincinnati, the city added another 5 years to the tax abatement they offered new residential construction which started as 10 years in 2002. It was that additional five years that made all the difference and it has caused many builders to move to Cincinnati to build.
This is the home of Tom Warner. We’ll be touring it Nov. 18 as part of the volunteer promotion we do for the Ohio Chapter of the USGBC. We’ve found that people love to tour other peoples homes and will take a few hours out of their busy schedule to see how the other half lives. Over the past four years we have created a community of about 400 that have had their homes on the tour or have attended. They are all great folks and take interest in building sustainability. We’ll meet more of them at Greenbuild.
