Green Umbrella Cincinnati Sustainability Collaborative Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Rashida Manuel, Director of Public Engagement Green Umbrella: We are thrilled to be adding a new initiative to Green Umbrella this week. The Cincinnati 20, 30 district is building a community of building owners and property managers in downtown Cincinnati, who are committing to 50% reductions in their energy, water, and transportation emissions by 2030. We have 13 members so far and a new director who will be pounding the pavement to recruit many more in the new year.
A big investment by the Duke Class Benefit Fund makes it possible for us to not just staff this initiative, but to support buildings as the investigate energy efficiency improvements.
Charlie Gonzalez, Communications & Membership Coordinator Green Umbrella: In the last two years, greater Cincinnati was ranked as the most sustainable metro region in the United States by Site Selection 19. Given that the vision we set back in 2011 was to have Cincinnati in the top 10, we feel pretty proud. We are confident that all of the ongoing work you have heard about, and will learn about as you talk to the action teams is proof that our region is only moving up from here.
Rashida Manuel, Director of Public Engagement Green Umbrella: These 20 accomplishments are just a tiny glimpse into the work happening through our collective impact. What we can accomplish grows with each investment of time, talent, and resources from our members. If you received an umbrella on your way in tonight, please stand and open it now.
Thank you.
