The current challenges which Nature faces will be addressed as well as the call to discern just how we as planetary trustees can discover solutions to prepare an environment for our children, their children and generations to come.

FEATURED SPEAKER PAULA GONZALEZ, S.C., Ph.D. has been described as “a national treasure”. It is always ENGAGING and FUN to listen to her. She has presented worldwide over 1700 talks, retreats and mini-courses.

Paula smiles as she recounts the story of how she converted a former chicken shack on the Mount St. Joseph campus during the 1990’s into a state of the art solar residence. She designed and did much of the work of “La Casa del Sol”, a 1,200 sq ft super-insulated, passive-solar house which Paula shares with another Sister of Charity.

Considerable success with applications of solar energy has earned Paula the nickname “Solar Nun”.

For over 21 years she was a biology professor at ‘The Mount’. A widely published author and a consultant, Paula informs and engages as she describes a view of a sacred spirituality of the 21st century – and she does not disappoint her audience.

THE OTHER FEATURED SPEAKER IS PAUL DESCH, O.F.M., Ph.D. who has been a friar for 60 years, a priest for 50 years. He has taught 15 years at Duns Scotus College after earning his doctorate in Belgium, served a Cajun and African-American parish in Louisiana, been an in-demand Retreat Master/Spiritual Director and has counseled University of Cincinnati students as an outreach minister at the Newman Center. Currently, Paul serves Holy Name parish in the Mt. Auburn area of Cincinnati.

In the tradition of Francis of Assisi, Paul will speak to the priceless value of Nature itself and the wonder of all our brother and sister creatures. He is known for his calm, deliberate, witty presentations.
