There is no charge for the tour and presentation but we do ask you to RSVP to Green Cincinnati chuck.lohre@greencincy.wpmudev.host, 513-260-9025, 126A West 14th St., Cincinnat, OH 45202 by Mar. 21, 2012.

The first hour will be a tour of the Zoo’s LEED projects with special attention to the HVAC systems. The second hour will be a presentation of the eQUEST building modeling and the input of the HVAC systems for LEED Certification of the LEED Platinum Entry Village. We’ll try to take the mystery out of the LEED requirements and you’ll learn about other design functions of eQUEST to encourage energy efficiency.

If you would like to learn more about the process download eQUEST’s LEED_Analysis.pdf and the USGBC’s Advanced_Energy_Modeling_for_LEED_V1_5b.pdf.

The secret to energy modeling is to model the building and systems as simply as possible but no more. You’ll learn what it will take to meet LEED EAc1 but you will also learn how to use the Exceptional Calculation Method and how it can be used to demonstrate measurable environmental benefits to HVAC systems not included in eQUEST.

About the Cincinnati Zoo’s Green Initiatives:
In 2008, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s leadership team made a formal commitment to aggressively and passionately pursue environmental stewardship and to develop a strong sustainability program that includes energy efficiency, water usage, storm water management, waste management, sustainable design and construction, and education outreach. This strong commitment towards being green led to the 2010 proclamation by Governor Strickland that stated the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden as being the greenest zoo in America. The Zoo is doing its part to conserve natural resources that are critical to saving wildlife and wild places by greening its daily operations and reducing its impact on the environment.
