MISSION

AOR works to strengthen Ohio’s Economy through waste reduction, reuse, and recycling.

Annually AOR brings members and like-minded individuals together for a two day conference to discuss best and next practices.

AOR, in partnership with Keep America Beautiful, encourages recycling awareness and behavior change through student competitions in Ohio K-12 schools and in Ohio colleges and universities.

Recycle-Bowl is a fun and friendly competition for K-12 schools to promote recycling. In its inaugural year (2011), 1223 schools joined in to reach more than 544,000 students and recycle more than 3 million pounds of materials; Ohio had one of the highest participation rates in the country.

RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction to their campus communities. This nationwide competition had its beginnings in Ohio over 10 years ago with a competition between Ohio University and Miami University. In 2011, the per capita winner collected 56 pounds of recyclables per person

America Recycles Day AOR, in partnership with Keep America Beautiful, encourages local governments, schools, universities & colleges, businesses and non-profit organizations in Ohio to focus on recycling on America Recycles Day, November 15. In 2011 more than 2000 events were held across the country involving over 2 million people. For more information please contact Michelle Balz.
