Description: A simply astonishing opportunity, your chance to resurrect an important piece of Cincinnati’s role in the modern movement. We are honored to offer the kitchen of Cincinnati philanthropists and supporters of the arts J. Ralph and Patricia Corbett. This very special kitchen, custom designed for the Corbett’s in 1960, as part of their new home, the design work of Frank Lloyd Wright and John de Koven Hill was an astounding feat. Accomplished entirely in Formica, which was custom designed for the Corbett’s and which was never available at retail, the kitchen, in its original home measured an impressive 27 by 14 feet and was the to-die-for kitchen of its day, featured prominently in House Beautiful of 1960. The kitchen features dozens of cabinets, they are all laminated wood, mostly in a powder blue with random blue and gold mod diamond and circle patterns, some cabinets in a deep slate blue. The appliance features, which were the absolute top of the line pieces of their day, are also astounding, including a double sided stainless steel sink, Hot Point oven, NuTone intercom and radio, a NuTone ventilation hood and NuTone clock with a radio speaker, Frigidaire fold – up electric burners, Frigidaire Imperial double door convection oven, a NuTone juicer, blender, food processor combination appliance on its own cart, with a butcher block top and more! The kitchen also featured a massive double – decker peninsula / island, in an elongated octagonal shape, with a similarly impressive pattern on it’s surface. The Corbett home, which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and John de Koven Hill and the kitchen, which was featured in 1960’s “House Beautiful,” earning the designation of a “Pace Setter,” fit perfectly in its surroundings. Lovingly salvaged by Chuck Lohre, it is represented nearly in its entirety (non-original pieces were not kept with the set)and simply awaits reassembly! A very rare opportunity, and simply a wonder of modern design and innovation. All proceeds will be donated to the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati.
